Profile of a Lion is a beautiful charcoal original drawing on pink paper, realized by the German artist Wilhelm Lorenz, best know as Willi Lorenz (German, 1901–1981). Signed in pencil on lower right margin.
This wonderful study for a profile of a lion is sketched with incredible realism and big attention to the texture of the animal. It seems to be possible touch the softness of the foliage of the felin.

Wilhelm Lorenz
Wilhelm Lorenz, also known as Willi Lorenz, was a German painter who specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as a game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of animals like boars, foxes, buffalos and lions, depicted in their natural habitats and attitudes. His artwork resembled the work of Max Josef Hänger Lorenz. Lorenz attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before moving to Cologne to start his artistic career.
