About the Item
Tree in the wind is a unique black chalk on paper painting by contemporary artist Guy Oberson, dimensions are 59 × 79 cm (23.2 × 31.1 in).
The artwork is signed, sold unframed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
This artwork depicts a tree. This figurative black chalk drawing has a surreal and dreamlike quality despite being realistic. In this poetic drawing, the motif is less obvious and the atmosphere is obscured by what appears to be a thin, dark veil that is visible due to vertical streaks covering the image.
Guy Oberson doesn't outline his works; instead, he builds them up from a collection of lines. Through this method, subjects appear when viewed from a distance and vanish right before the observer's eyes as they get closer. Black chalk is blurred by the artist in a variety of vertical streaks, which obstructs the subject's perception and slows down the work's immediate interpretation.

Guy Oberson
Guy Oberson’s paintings, produced in black chalk or in oil, plunge the observer into an ambiguous and timeless universe. Figurative and abstract themes confront and complement each other in his work. The artist shades the black chalk with a multitude of vertical streaks which alters the perception of the subject. This last is thus taken apart, loosing body, but gains in expressive intensity. For around 15 years the artist has exhibited his works in European museums, contemporary art spaces, foundations, fairs and galleries. In 2014 he was awarded the Bédikian Foundation Award (Paris) and in 2016 he received the State of Friborg Cultural Award (Switzerland). “Being an artist is above all a daily attempt to contribute to the freedom of the gaze, autonomy of thought, and the retransmission of energy and beauty.”

- Riptide Study, Danny Galieote, Conte and Gouache, Figurative, Americana PopBy Danny GalieoteLocated in 326 N Coast Hwy. | Laguna Beach, CADANNY GALIEOTE Riptide Study Conté and Gouache on Archival Paper 30 x 24 1/2 inches, Framed Danny Galieote has a propensity for capturing the quintessentials of Americana in works that blend realist narratives with a pop sensibility. The works are reminiscent of classic, vintage postcard imagery with an undercurrent of poetic, and often surprising, juxtaposition. The stylistic effect is a blend between the old-school charm of Norman Rockwell, with the unexpected twist of surrealist René Magritte. JoAnne Artman Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new works by Danny Galieote with a focus on iconic American summertime scenes. Galieote belongs to a group of contemporary artists and writers that are part of a revitalized interest in American regionalist history and art. The American Regionalist art...Category
