About the Item
Questo disegno, matita su carta 14 x 10 cm, è uno squisito esempio di "Accademia", ovvero studio dal vero da modello nudo che era una delle attività tipiche nelle accademie, soprattutto nell'Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, dal XVIII secolo in poi. L'acconciatura alla "Titus" dell'effigiato (con basette e ciuffo di ricci sulla fronte) consente una datazione al primo quarto del XIX secolo.
L'alta qualità del tratto, la purezza della definizione e l'apparenza "statuaria" del modello ritratto nella tipica posa detta a chiasmo, fanno attribuire il disegno alla cultura di Pietro Benvenuti (Arezzo 1769 – Firenze 1844), uno dei più importanti artisti e maestri accademici dell'ottocento fiorentino.
La cornice è in legno, riccamente lavorata, mostrando una decorazione a racemi con putti e stemmi
