N190, 100x100cm, oil/canvas
With this series of works I explore the theme of freedom and self-expression.
This project is my interpretation of frivolous pictures of the Middle Ages - an ambiguous, transitional time, a crisis of statehood, morality, culture, the formation of new ideas and ideals.
Despite the abundance of details and decor in the works, I still leave room for the viewer’s imagination to fly - the absence of titles of the works, faces hidden under masks, some understatement... The details are designed to immerse the viewer deeper into the atmosphere of the paintings and make them fantasize about what is happening, based on their own subjective perception, internal freedom and the scale of what is permitted.
Naivety, irony, partly absurdity and surrealism are an invariable component of my works, encouraging the viewer to interact with the paintings and become part of what is depicted, which is the main goal of my work.
