About the Item
Artist Comments
"I was excited to be able to stay in the garden after closing time to paint the sunset over the marsh," shares artist Sherri Aldawood. She painted this view en plein air at Middleton Place in Charleston, South Carolina offering a unique perspective of the marsh from behind luscious trees and thick vegetation. A dappled light shines through, illuminating the pathway and blooms of pink, red, and orange. "Fortunately, I wasn't approached by the resident alligators!"
About the Artist
Sherri Aldawood didn't intend to always paint flowers, but over time her love of gardens started to permeate her art. She focuses on the light and color of the flowers on the canvas. Sherri prefers alla prima, working with wet layers of paint instead of letting them dry. She keeps the paint as wet as possible by using walnut and clove oil to extend the drying time.

- Fall Trees, Oil PaintingBy Vahe YeremyanLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
A sunny hillside in early autumn, the trees beginning to glow in rust and orange. Highlights of pink and blue in the distance add dimension and lead the eye back to the clear blue sky. Part of Vahe's long-running series of forest scenes. Following in the tradition of the French Impressionists, he returns to painting the same locations at different times of the day and year to capture the changing light and colors of the landscape.About the Artist
Los Angeles-based and Armenian-born artist, Vahe Yeremyan, is a contemporary impressionist. Through his landscapes and cityscapes, Vahe uses a subdued color palette to capture the sublime and delicate beauty of nature and architecture. To create his style of impressionism, he juxtaposes shapes and colors to evoke motion and changing light, while still conveying recognizable forms. Vahe has trained extensively to master his craft and he has earned degrees in painting and a PhD in Fine Art Therapy.Words that describe this painting: fall, autumn, trees, landscape, hill, impressionism, landscape, representational, oil painting, green

- Calm WaterBy David ForksLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
A scene from the Texas hill country, I love painting the combination of land, sky and water. I used a palette knife to apply the paint fairly thick and achieve a textured surface.About the Artist
David has always wanted to be a painter. His professional career consisted of design and illustration roles, but it was not until a brush with his own mortality that David decided to change careers and become a full-time artist. “I quit my job in Houston and moved to the small and slow-paced border town of Del Rio, Texas, where I am now living my dream,” he says. Inspired by the outdoors, he often paints outside or takes photographs on his road trips to which he refers once back in his studio. The resulting paintings are marked by impressionist-style brushwork and a natural use of color. David’s pastoral scenes of the countryside are idyllic, invoking within the viewer a serene sense of calm.Calm Water...
