Alfonso T Toran
Flamingos

c. 1930

About the Item

Alfonso T Toran is a Florida artist from the late 19th early 20th century. His works display bold animal portraits, mostly in birds and fish. Later on in his painting career, he moved to New York City and made murals and private paintings for some of America's most esteemed art collectors. He later moved to Hollywood to write and further worked on composing miniatures, which he showed twice annually in New York's Greenwich Village. The bright color palett evokes a sense of fun and vibrancy of nature. The almost hazy and monotone background of the image really emphasizes the bright and detailed foreground. This is a well recognized piece from this artist and has a great provenance. This painting is signed in the bottom right and comes with frame in excellent condition.
