Huge 19th century Hunting scene oil painting "Two setters with their trophy in a landscape" by the well-known Belgian animal painter Henry Schouten Henry Schouten was born in Indonesia in 1857, and studied at the Academy in Brussels from 1876 until 1881. A year later he started exhibiting in Brussels with the Union des Arts. An expert animal painter, he usually chose to depicts the animals in their homes or everyday environment and acting in a very natural way. The oil on canvas measures ca. 90 by 60,5 cms and with frame ca. 120 by 90 cms (47 1/4" by 35 2/5"). Provenance: Private Belgian Collection Late 19th / early 20th century
