Body I is a unique oil on free-standing canvas painting by contemporary artist Ferle, dimensions are 200 × 140 cm (78.7 × 55.1 in).
The artwork is signed, sold unframed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
From the thighs to the head, a male body is depicted in this oil painting on canvas. Its musculature and contours are only hinted at by the black paint, which appears to have been projected and reflects the body's movement and energy. Ferle expresses all the virility of the body by bringing the color closer to the viewer in certain areas.
This canvas invites us to put aside any familiar references and allow the spirituality they hold to engulf us. This spirituality might appear to be at odds with the violent gesture used to create the painting.

Elvire Ferle
For Ferle, painting is a ‘moment’ which alone justifies the motion of the artist, mobilized physically by the composition of her work. Her canvasses entice us to abandon all known references and leave us submerged by the spirituality that they are so full of. Her works, nearing abstract minimalism and often in extremely large formats, are composed of colored geometric patterns. Light and colour are central to her pictorial research and even become the focal point of her work. Throughout her long career, the artist has exhibited in museums and galleries in France, Europe and Japan.
