2021

About the Item

Ciberurban in "tondo". Architectural colorful landscape inspired in the Bauhaus School. Acrylic paint, mixed media on panel. 2021 Dimensions in cm.: 132 x 129 x 4 cm. In inches: 51.97 " x 50.79" x 1.57 " The landscape of the big city, futurism, Fritz Lang's Metropolis... Juan Pita presents us in this painting those iconic images of American culture and cinema from the '20s but, now, full of color and dynamism. Futurism, constructivism..., the avant-garde movements of the '20s (20th Century) seem to emerge from this composition where the original perspective visualizes a wide panoramic view of the big city . In the name of many works, the terms “cyberurban”, “cyberarch”, “Bauhaus” appear... This responds to a personal project of the author that consists of developing the previous ideas in large format paintings on supports, other than the traditional rectangle. : “tondo” (or circle), triangle, rhombus, diptych, triptych, or combinations of multiple supports that give the painting variable limits in the three dimensions. ABOUT THE ARTIST Juan Pita (Madrid-Spain) is graduated as an architect in the Superior Technical school of Architecture of Madrid and, as a painter, at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando (Madrid). He is also an etcher, a cartoonist -with work published in the most prestigious magazines in Spain- and, at times, an industrial designer. As a painter he employs a wide range of techniques considering that each procedure is a different language with which to communicate: acrylic and oil painting, collage and mixed media, pencil and charcoal drawing, pen and pastel; and etching and silk-screen printing. In his current periode he has also incorporated collages and mixed media digital images created with graphic design programs, and has experimented with painting on three dimensional media of his own design. His work reflects the importance given to the knowledge and use of materials and procedures, as well as to the traditional painting techniques, that the author has studied in depth not only during his training, but over many trips and visits to museums, art collections and galleries worldwide. He has held a large number of individual and collective exhibitions as well as international art fairs, and won several prizes and awards, having his art shown in museums, public institutions and private collections in Europe and America.
