Paul Weber
Sunset Boating Landscape

1856

About the Item

Paul Weber was a German born artist that painted beautiful American Landscapes. He exhibited his works in New England, specifically Philadelphia and Boston. After his famed period of landscape painting, he decided to become a teacher, and taught many young artists his skillset. The serene landscapes which he painted often have livestock, or animals in the foreground which is seen in this painting. There are cows grazing in the same image that a steam boat is coming to shore. His hazy depiction of a foggy sunset scene shows his ability to capture light in a way that brings life to the land and subjects. The brighter colors of the sky in contrast with the darker more grayish tones show a beauty of the nature he painted. This painting is signed and dated lower right and comes with frame in excellent condition.
