About the Item
Steven Rehfeld's 24" x 24" mixed media landscape is a masterful blend of color and texture that captures the serenity and majesty of nature. "Break of Dawn" is dominated by gentle mountain peaks bathed in shades of dusky rose and muted gold. These warm tones are beautifully contrasted by the cooler hues of slate blue and lavender in the reflective waters below. A row of verdant, emerald trees stands guard at the mountain's base, acting as a bridge between the land and its mirrored reflection. Rehfeld's contemporary style is evident in his broad, sweeping brush strokes, which are enhanced by various forms of media that lend depth and dimension to the scene. "Break of Dawn", while reminiscent of classical landscapes, carries a modern freshness, making it a captivating piece.
Steven is now one of the top emerging artists in the U.S. His works are groundbreaking, bold, and imbued with unflinching disregard for painting conventions. Many works are in collections and museums in the U.S.
Steven is also part of the 'Outsiders' school of art, originating in France in the 19th century. Also known as the Naïve movement, and was comprised of people with no art training at all, who suddenly started to paint. Many of them are from very challenging backgrounds. All they had was talent that had never before been tapped. In no time this movement became a significant art phenomenon and spread all over the world.
His work, however, has branched out past the movement and his use of earth elements renders a basic and raw interpretation of his message.

Steven H. Rehfeld
Steven H. Rehfeld, a California artist, holds a B.A. in studio art from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He draws inspiration from the 'Outsiders' school of art that originated in 19th-century France, known as the Naïve movement. Also referred to as the Naïve or Primitive art movement, was comprised of artists with no formal art training who discovered their talent and began painting. Many of these artists came from challenging backgrounds, and their raw talent remained untapped until they expressed themselves through art. The movement quickly gained prominence and spread worldwide. Steven Rehfeld's artistic style has evolved beyond the Naïve movement, incorporating earth elements to create a basic and raw interpretation of his artistic message.
