Arbutus trees are wonderfully colorful and expressive. They grow all along the coast of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands and are a favorite subject to paint. The colors and texture in this painting are vivid and thick and the sides of the gallery wrapped canvas have been painted so that it may be hung without a frame. Linda Yurgensen
Linda Yurgensen (Canadian, b. 1958) is a self-taught artist living on Vancouver Island who paints primarily in acrylics and oil. Having grown up in Nova Scotia in an artistic family, she learned very early on that she had a love for art. Yurgensen creates works that are full of saturated color and light and heavy with texture that has become her trademark. Her work has been included in many private collections throughout the United States and Canada and her work and painting process was included in a book published by Walter Foster entitled "The Art of Painting in Acrylic" in 2013. Yurgensen is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
