Image Size: 4.37 in. high (11.1 cm) x 5.98 in. wide (15.2 cm) - Archivally matted in a 17 x 13 mat. The piece will be shipped in a mat (17 x 13 in.) that fits a standard-sized frame. No ink stamp, no legend. Note: This place corresponds to the old door of Pantin on the wall of the General Farmers because one left by this door to go to Pantin. It then took the name of Porte du Combat because of the animal fights that took place there from 1778 when they ceased to take place in the rue de Sèvres. It was sometimes called Porte Saint-Louis because of the proximity of the Saint-Louis hospital. During the Battle of Paris in 1814, the naval gunners, the National Guard, and Polytechnician students heroically defended the gate. This road of the former municipalities of Belleville and La Villette is classified in the Parisian road network by a decree of May 23, 1863. In 1871, the door was the last entrenchment of the insurgents of the Paris Commune. On April 13, 1918, during the First World War, a shell launched by the Big Bertha exploded in the Place du Combat. Became on August 12, 1903, the "Place du Combat," it takes its current name, Place du Colonel Fabien by a decree of July 7, 1945. Place du Colonel-Fabien is located between the 10th and 19th arrondissements of Paris. It is best known for the presence of the headquarters of the French Communist Party, designed by the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. (Credit: Wikipedia).
