This aerial photo is from a series called "The Bog Plants", which features close-up shots of plants and leaves in swamps in Estonia. The vast, pristine, mysterious swamps of Estonia are full of unanticipated surprises. From above, these landscapes appear dreamy and lyrical. In national parks like Lahemaa National Park, these marshes are frequently protected. While extensive peat extraction in Estonia is destroying natural peatlands, former peat extraction areas are being converted back to swamps. Bogs are six times more effective at storing carbon dioxide than forests, making them essential for this process.
Since 2010, Bernhard Lang dedicates himself to aerial photography, travelling around the world and looking for singular landscapes impacted by human activities. From the sky, these views almost look like abstract paintings.

Bernhard Lang
Since 2010, Bernhard Lang has been doing aerial photography. He has travelled the world in search of landscapes strongly scarred by man’s imprint, which he photographs from aerial viewpoints using a ultra-light plane or a helicopter. Seen from the sky, these panoramas look almost like abstract paintings. Firmly in the field of contemporary art, his work seeks to incite thoughts on the environment whilst also giving aesthetic pleasure. Over the last ten years, his work has been recompensed by different international awards. “The aerial views show the world out of a different, uncommon perspective. [...] Also, you see the influence, the impact of the humans on the world. That’s what I’d like to show.’’

The process was invented by Heinz Sovilla-Brulhart in 1969. Due to the light penetration and refraction of clear acrylic compared to normal glass, the colours are more brilliant and the image sharper than with standard glass in a picture frame. A DIASEC mounted is usually of a high gloss finish. Because the print is glued to the acrylic glazing, the result is a completely flat mount of the image. The print is also protected against ultraviolet (UV) light. DIASEC contains an UV light inhibitors to help protect the image from UV light. Bruno Paget...Category
