Georg Lemberger (German, c. 1490 – 1540) Matthew the Evangelist Woodcut on paper 5.3/4 x 3.3/4in. (14.5 x 9.6 cm. ) Hollstein, 7. This is from the New German bible printed by Melchior Lotter Wittenberg, 1524. This print is in very good condition printed probably after the bible edition The monogram and date are erased. The print has been cut to the image slightly missing some of the line to the upper right. From the collection of George Bjorkland (Lugt 1138c). The woodcut has been expertised by Dr. Werner Schade. Newly framed in a limed wood frame and a white mount
