This edition is sold out. Almost as enormous as its subject is influential, the original SUMO is an homage to the astounding photographer Helmut Newton. Edited by June Newton, supported with a Philippe Starck bookstand, and containing over 400 images, it covers every aspect of Newton’s outstanding career, chronicling his groundbreaking fashion photography, definitive nudes, and celebrity portraiture. Limited Collector’s Edition of 10,000 copies, each signed and numbered by Helmut Newton, with bookstand designed by Philippe Starck. Purchased at Taschen Los Angles January 24th 2004 they day after Helmut Newton died. This Limited Edition Sumo book is numbered and signed by Helmut

Helmut Newton
Famed fashion photographer Helmut Newton shot provocative black-and-white photographs of models for Vogue while also known as a fine art photographer. Vogue USA’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour once described Newton's work as “synonymous with Vogue at its most glamorous and mythic.”
Newton resided in France, later in Los Angeles, California, and was married to photographer Alice Springs.
