About the Item
THE ROUND POND is a limited edition lithograph printed using traditional lithography techniques on archival printmaking paper, 100% acid free, by the British woman artist Sandra Lawrence. THE ROUND POND portrays a pleasurable summer pond scene featuring two young boys with their model sailboat. Both are shirtless, squinting their eyes from the glaring sun; one with red mop-head hair and freckles wearing dark framed glasses and light blue jeans, the other boy gap toothed with shaggy brown hair squatting near the edge of the pond looking out toward the viewer. THE ROUND POND evokes a fantasy-like atmosphere with its almost pointillist style texture visible across the periwinkle blue water and horizon line. The light cream beige colored model boat drawn with precise detail is seen in reflection on the still pond water. Three brown leaves float on the water's surface possibly foretelling the coming of autumn. THE ROUND POND is an attractive and charming rendition of boyhood summer adventure by the talented woman artist, Sandra Lawrence.
