Maurice Estève
Collages - Galerie Claude

1974

About the Item

Maurice Estève created this original lithographic poster to promote an upcoming show of his new series of collages at the Galerie Claude Bernard in Paris in 1974. He was known for his lyrical experiments with colorful interwoven forms and merged his love of art history with abstraction. He said of his work: “I never use a sketch, I paint directly on the canvas, without a preparatory drawing. Each work is a series of transformations.” The same plate used for the poster were also used to create a signed and numbered edition of 125. Ed. 1,000. Certificate of Provenance: Each individual work of art carefully curated by Mourlot Editions comes with a Certificate of Provenance, signed, dated, stamped, and numbered, accompanying your piece, this certificate guarantees the origin and authenticity of your personal lithograph.

    By Paul Jenkins
    Located in New York, NY
Paul Jenkins (July 12, 1923 – June 9, 2012) The paintings of Paul Jenkins have come to represent the spirit, vitality, and invention of post World War II American abstraction. Employing an unorthodox approach to paint application, Jenkins is as much identified with the process of controlled paint-pouring and canvas manipulation as with the gem-like veils of transparent and translucent color which have characterized his work since the late 1950s. Certificate of Provenance: Each individual work of art carefully curated by Mourlot Editions...
