Poster showing a captain on deck at sea blindfolded and reaching out. Gordon Grant, a renowned marine painter and watercolorist, created the poster “Will You Supply Eyes for the Navy?” in 1917 to support the “Eyes for the Navy” campaign during World War I. The poster features a captain on deck at sea, blindfolded and reaching out, with the text “Will You Supply Eyes for the Navy?” in bold letters1. The poster was created to encourage the public to donate binoculars and spy-glasses to the Navy, which was facing a shortage of these essential tools. The poster’s striking imagery and bold text were intended to evoke a sense of patriotism and duty in the viewer, urging them to contribute to the war effort1. The original poster measures 30 inches in height and 20 inches in width and is also currently part of the U.S. Navy’s art collection1. It is a powerful reminder of art's role in shaping public opinion and supporting the war effort during World War I. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction—reference: Rawls 190, very rare. Free Continental USA shipping.
