About the Item

Kollwitz, Kathe (German, 1867-1945). SELBSTBILDNIS (SELF-PORTRAIT). Klipstein122VII(b), Knesebeck 126. Etching and drypoint, 1912. The final state. There were no editions in the earlier states, and five editions in the final state of which this is the first, printed on Japan paper and signed in pencil by Kollwitz and by the printer Otto Felsing. This is one of the 50 signed prints included in the DeLuxe edition of Sievers 1913 catalogue of Kollwitz's prints, with the sheet measuring, as called for by Knesebeck 12 5/8 x 9 1/2 inches, 325 x 242 mm. Some tape residue at top, verso, and a few small thin spots from old hinging, else in very good condition.
