About the Item
Original Travel Poster for Belgium - Cities of Art signed by artist Poleff and dated 1932. The image, framed in an archway window, features a woman wearing Byzantine / Middle Ages era habits and a red robe. In her hands she is holding an iconic reglious scene of Mary and Jesus. The background shows some of the great old building odd downtown Brussels.
Printed by: Office Belgo-Luxembourgeois de Tourisme - Brussels.
Linen backed in very good condition, ready to frame. No paper loss and no damage. Bright and vibrant. Inconspicuous fold marks that are professionally retouched.
The iconography of the polyptych represented seems freely taken from the fifteenth-century Flemish iconography of the Sacred Conversation.Belgian Villas d'Art. A woman with a Renaissance headdress holds a polyptych of the Holy Conversation in her hand against the background of a Flemish city.
