About the Item

CAFTANO 2013 Ceramic, oxides, enamels and copper Measurement: CM 178 x 50 x 21 Work inspired by the dresses (kaftans) used in the inauguration ceremonies of the Ottoman sultans. They were covered with signs and apotropaic formulas to protect the new sultan from misfortune. The ceramic surfaces are covered with signs that always repeat themselves in infinite combinations, such as letters of a hidden language, an esoteric alphabet, signs and numbers of ritual formulas. BIO Professional musician, he approached the world of visual arts, starting a course of study of drawing, painting and technique of the Russian icon, through the teachings of Franca Bernardi, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, and Marco Nani, who they therefore led to the decisive encounter with ceramics and sculpture, the central point of his research. He studied with the ceramist Oriano Zampieri and deepened the techniques with the Catalan ceramist Maria Gelabert. He has never abandoned drawing on paper which continues to represent an important expressive need. He collaborated with the Caffè Circi company, for which he studied a line of "CIVITAZ" coffee cups, unique pieces designed as sculpture cups. He has collaborated with Ars Imago Dei, Galleria Archè and Lentarte, Micro Arti Visive, ExpartGallery, MUEF artgallery, AFcasadesign, Ipazia Immagine e Pensiero, Maninarte, BAAC gallery, Fondazione Passarè Milano, Galerie Terbeek, The Netherlands. He participated in Affordable Art Fair 2015 in Milan, with Independent Artists Gallery. He created the sets for Mozart's opera "Così fan tutte" at the Tuscia Opera Festival in Viterbo. He currently collaborates with Artbank Nanjing, and Lo Spazio Bianco Milano. He has exhibited in the museums of Pietrasanta (Museum of sketches), Vicenza (Museo Archeologico), Naples (National Museum of Ceramics Duke of Martina) Villa Floridiana, Sutri (Museum of Palazzo Doebbing), Rome (Museum of the Aurelian Walls) Porta San Sebastiano.
