About the Item
"The calm of the storm"
The sculpture, which seems to follow the rhythm of a fierce wind and represents for the artist a storm, nevertheless brings a sweet serenity to the place where it is exposed.
The contrast between the force of movement in the sculpture and the tranquility of the environment creates an aesthetic tension that attracts the eye of visitors. You can almost feel the breeze that animates the figure. It seems to float in weightlessness. This duality between movement and stillness, strength and serenity, is what makes this sculpture so fascinating and poetic. It invites to meditation and to find the balance between restlessness and inner peace.
Storm is a theme created by the artist Guillaume Roche. Through these polished curves and deep grooves, it expresses the strength of the elements and the points of balance between matter and space. The artist explores the energy created by the movement of the earth and the winds.

Guillaume Roche
Guillaume Roche is a sculptor. Born in Lorient, graduated from the National School of Applied Arts in Paris, the artist works in Étrechy in Essonne. Stainless steel is his modeling ground. More than a favorite material, the artist obsessively pushes the limits of the material. The contrasts it provokes, solid suppleness, cold reflection, smooth roughness, massive lightness (...) give every day the tension necessary for the sculptor to work. The action is a constant round trip between body and matter. Athletic temporality where man develops the characteristics of the material through his own physical limits. But also intellectual, by the way he explores all the technical and mechanical properties of his metal skins. His research is carried out in a geometric work, which perpetuates the dynamics caused by stainless steel. Spheres, cubes, curves, parallel or perpendicular are the tools of the sculptor in the tension of his work. Form after form, each period is the deepening of a geometry in its monumental quest. His source of inspiration: the transformation of matter. It freely recomposes the metal plates cut with plasma and stamped with hammer-hammer. The artist translates movement and energy by the dynamism of the assemblages and seeks the balance of the composition. His sculptures offer us aerial movements, round shapes with powerful lines, delicate and sensual cuts. The contextualization of his Monumentales works, inscribes the approach of Guillaume Roche in the field of architecture: work of structure, lines, matter, study of a volume and its proportions according to a context and an environment. Monumental and yet light, he conceives his works, of a highly controlled stability, at the limit of their point of balance.

- GryphonBy Damon HyldrethLocated in Napa, CAThe sculptures of Damon Hyldreth appear both static and fluid, rigid and flexible, strong and smooth, effectively blurring the line between nature and structure. By crafting organic forms from an obviously man-made metal, Hyldreth creates a unique symbiosis between nature and structure, unifying the sculpture and the surroundings through the free-flowing energy and architecture of his artworks. Keeping in mind the intimate connection between artists and their tools, Hyldreth studies the potential energies of his metals and coaxes out exquisite forms and natural power. Using mainly stainless steel, as well as the occasional bronze and Cor-ten steel, Hyldreth allows his materials to dictate their final shape and become an ultimate collaboration between man and matter. The evocative forms subliminally draw the audience in, giving every viewer a deeply personal experience. In 2004 Damon received his BFA in Sculpture from San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA. Public and private installations of Hyldreth’s work include the town of Palm Desert, CA, the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, The W Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, Trump Hollywood, Hollywood, FL Neiman Marcus, Houston, TX, Soffitel Hotel, Los Angeles, CA and the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza...Category
