About the Item

Unique, original work of art, made 100% of ceramic, hand-signed, siliconized underneath. Original cobination of a classical sculpture with a painting and sgraffito technique. The sculpture has one of a kind design, not inspired by other trends or artists. Every detail, is made on the basis of a study of the nature. Colors are created by mixing pigments with clay. The inspiration was taken from the reflection of the surrounding nature. The environment we perceive through our senses affects our consciousness, which in turn affects our actions. The constant interpenetration of our consciousness with the environment creates us unique individuals. Sabina Pelc, completed five-year master’s studies at the Faculty of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 2008, receiving the title of Master of Arts. Her sculptures are the result of a combination of a study of nature, respect for the masters of classical art and inspiration from nature she longs for. The artist works in ceramics, plays with mixing sculpture, painting and graphics, using only natural clay, pigments and sometimes enamels. Searching for innovative solutions, she combines painting, graphic and drawing techniques with sculpture. The main focus of her work is always human and nature.

This is an original, unique ceramic sculpture by Sarah Louise Davey on a black wooden base. The piece measures 44” x 19” x 21”. Please note: This piece is pictured with the base on top of a black pedestal and a white pedestal. The black base of the sculpture is included, but the pedestals are not included. Artist Statement: "The art of making, for me, is very much a response to the human condition of needing to connect to one another, as well as to what lies just beyond the borders of our realities. I am drawn to the idea that art can have the ability to affect those who look upon it, allowing these portraits to be conduits to a realm within our subconscious. Although my females are hard ceramic sculptures, their hollow, eggshell-like interiors feel like a glove or a mask that can easily be slipped on and off, like the psychic armor of a distant self. An introspective dialogue is started as I make each piece, invoking a surreal understanding of the physical and emotional auras of these strange beauties. Heavy in symbolism, they illustrate the psychological scope of a hybrid creature. Their wide-eyed gazes are meant to portray an emotional duality that is constantly evolving. Some are alter egos of women on the verge...

Edition of 25; Ed. no. 6/25 Nick Knight is among the world’s most influential and visionary photographers. He has worked on a range of often controversial issues during his career – from racism, disability, ageism, and more recently fat-ism. He continually challenges conventional ideals of beauty. The photographer Nick Knight has been portraying international supermodel Kate Moss for more than two decades. As one of the most photographed women in the world who has been accompanied by Knight for many years, Moss serves as the subject of his work. In cooperation with the Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg, the world famous photographer has eternalised a three-dimensional portrait of the Briton in biscuit porcelain for the first time. The figurine developed in the master workshops of Nymphenburg in 2014 is reminiscent of Christian iconography. Attributes such as the filigree crown of thorns and the voluminous loincloth make reference to religious relics...
