By Calif-Asia
Located in Topeka, KS
Incredible Mid-20th Century Coastal Island Rattan & wicker Low, Legless, or Japanese “Zaisu” lounge chairs in the style of Calif Asia, a pair. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, they have been restored, given a fresh coat of shellack, and the wicker has been repaired in a couple of spots by our experienced staff. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-20th Century. Shorty got low…low…low…low…low! Ha! Gotcha singing?? Well, you should be!!! Because this pair of Rattan & wicker low lounge chairs is something to SING ABOUT!!! They are comprised of marvelous low Rattan frames bearing stunning front cross stretchers and a rounded bent Rattan back support with a horizontal stretcher which not only assists in sturdiness, but also is a lovely, stylish detail!! All the joints and connections are Rattan wrapped and they feature wonderful wide wicker seats and backs! I mean… GORGEOUS!!! They are identified on the world wide web with a few different names such as “Legless Lounge Chairs” or the Japanese Zaisu, pronounced “Za-Isu,” or simply a low lounge beach style...

Vladimir Kagan 'Rock Star' Pair of Leather Rocking Chairs, c. 1997, Signed
By American Leather, Vladimir Kagan
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This pair of black leather rocking armchairs are by Vladimir Kagan for the Kagan Collection, by American Leather (previously LeatherTech). Designed in circa 1997 and called the 'Rock Star' lounge chair due to its rocking chair abilities cleverly disguised underneath with hidden wooden runners and signature rounded form, the curved arms and integrated seat cushion gives the look of a molded chair. What's a huge upside about these examples are that they have LeatherTech labels underneath instead of the common and newer American Leather labels. In the 1990s the company was originally founded as LeatherTech and brought huge innovations into the furniture and design industry. Later, in the early 2000's they changed their name to American Leather. Earlier examples made prior to the name change such as this pair are sought-after by collectors and generally carry greater worth. With Postmodern soaring in popularity, this club chair is just as relevant today as it was when it was first introduced. An excellent choice for designers and collectors alike, the chair and ottoman are signed underneath with The Kagan collection labels and leather swatch...
