Courreges Numbered Couture Navy White Wool Zipper Mod Space-Age Dress, 1970s

About the Item

Master of the miniskirt and guru of the go-go boot, André Courrèges introduced novel design styles in the 60s that played with stark color blocking and ignored the traditional hemline conventions from previous decades. Alongside other notable designers such as Mary Quant and Pierre Cardin, Courrèges designs captured the aura of free, fun-loving fashion epoch. From his circa 1970 Hyperbole line, this sleeveless dress is made from a rich navy-blue wool. A semi-boat neckline frames the upper chest as a stark white zip plunges to the empire waistline marked with the iconic AC logo. At waist level, tabs from the back of the dress fasten under the bust and down the sides framing the deep field of blue with the white snaps while adding in interesting side detail. With a modest A-line silhouette, this dress speaks volumes with its simple color palette and minimalist yet engineered design details. Capture the style of the past and imagination of the future with this Courrèges dress. Size estimate: Small Measurements: Bust: 32 inches Waist: 26 inches Hips: 32 inches Length: 35.5 inches While also adding a key decorative element, all of the snaps are fully functional allowing for some styling options. This dress in fully lined in a matching silky rayon and is in excellent condition. Professionally eco-dry cleaned and pressed, high-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself. - Follow us on Instagram @BASHAGOLD

Best known for his high-end, feminine silhouettes, haute couture designer Givenchy rose to international acclaim during the 1960s by creating his signature looks for actress Audrey Hepburn. Maintaining a classic romantic elegance to his designs, Givenchy began experimenting with bolder colors and pattern options around the 1980s. This dress is made from a vivid green silk that has red-violet cherries throughout. Satin spots add intermittent luster throughout. A modest neckline rounds into slightly gathered short sleeves as classic silhouette evokes Givenchy’s traditional style.
