A Rare Hexagonal Silk Patchwork Hanging- England Circa 1860-1890

England
Precious hexagonal patchwork made of silk woven between 1780 and 1860. Exceptional composition with a zig-zag striped effect around a central target with black velvet hexagons. Great richness of the silks initially intended for the dress. Very strong polychromy of the silks composed of taffeta, satin, pekin and all ombré, chiné, cannelé, moiré... Entirely hand sewn very tightly, there are some traces of papers written in English on the back. Provenance of a Parisian collection with description on yellow paper. Remarkable piece. No defects. Very good condition of colour and conservation.
