Pair Of Fish Aquarium - Chinese Porcelain - Cloisonné Enamel - Canton - XXth

Magnificent pair of Chinese porcelain fish tanks, with fine cloisonné enamel decorations of animated scenes of characters, flowers, birds, butterflies on a white background on the outside and decorated with five fish among aquatic plants on the inside. Period : Early XXth century Dimensions : Height : 42cm x width : 46,5cm Do you know how long ornamental aquaristics has existed? Depending on the source, the beginnings of ornamental aquarium keeping, involving the selection of species, date back to 905 AD or the 12th century. Similarly, the date of creation of the "bowl" or fish aquarium is subject to several dates. For some, it would be in 1369 with the launch of a porcelain factory that produced large containers to hold goldfish by the Chinese emperor Hongwu. According to other sources, the Chinese "vase" or aquarium was invented by the Ming Dynasty in 1547.  An early treatise on goldfish breeding dates back to 1596.

    Lovely polychrome porcelain bowl from Canton. We find on this Canton porcelain the characteristic decoration painted on a white background representing large polylobed medallions or cartridges alternating palace scenes and nature decorations with motifs of birds, plants, flowers, and butterflies. Period: Mid-19th Century Dimensions: diameter 20cm Solid and fairly excavated funds use gold. The artist painter uses the circular shape of the object to represent the scenes continuously. Here we find the Chinese characters in a palace, surrounded by friezes of flowers. The colors remain vivid, especially with light greens and pinks.
