Georgian 18th Century Mahogany Tea Caddy
About the Item
A Very Good Quality 18th century Georgian, Chippendale Period, Mahogany Tea Caddy Of Rectangular Form, Having Elegant Shaped Top Enclosing Original Tin Containers, Retaining Original Brasswear Throughout, Raised On Original Bracket Feet.
Tea was an extremely valuable commodity throughout the course of the 18th and 19th centuries. Therefore of course something was required to store the precious tea leaves in and ensure that they remain in their peak condition for as long as possible, whilst at the same time offering a little security to stop any wandering hands.
The mahogany used to construct this tea caddy is good, rich timber and retains an attractive colour and patina. It is also nice to note that it comes with original brass furnishings and its original tin containers inside, which is quite unusual.
This tea caddy comes with a fully functioning lock and key, plus has been cleaned and traditionally waxed polished by our highly skilled and well trained specialist antique furniture restorers in our workshops before being offered for sale.
It also remains in good condition and has clearly been well loved throughout the years of its life.
