George III Period (1764) Footed Sterling Silver Salver/Tray
About the Item
George III Period, hoof-footed sterling silver salver/tray, London, year-hallmarked for 1764, Richard Rugg - maker. The salver is designed with a scroll and shell border, and has a lovely, etched floral design which surrounds a central armorial of a unicorn. The salver measures 6 inches in diameter x almost 1 inch high and weighs 6.320 troy ounces. The underside bears the salver's hallmarks, a script monogram - (F W) and a rub to the silver (see photos) probably made when the silver was assayed. Dark areas on sterling silver in photos are reflections. In very good antique condition.
