About the Item
Black on black pottery jar in uncommon shaped, signed Maria and Julian. 1925 - 1943; 5 3/4" x 6 1/4". Julian is Maria's husband and highly recognized. San Ildefonso Pueblo, New Mexico, are internationally renowned 20th-century American potters. Inspired by the findings of archeologists, Maria and her husband led a revival of ancient pottery styles among Pueblo artisans. Between 1918 and 1943, Maria shaped the pots and her husband Julian painted the designs. (Cisco's Gallery has one of the largest collections of Martinez pottery in all sizes) Check us out!
