Vintage Chimayo Wool Woven Purse with a Silver Closure
About the Item
A fine Native American woven purse.
From Chimayo (a region inhabited by Pueblo Indians since about 1200 CE).
Dating from the 1940s - 1950s.
Principally in gray wool with red, white and black highlights.
Lined with a silk lining and a steel zipper.
Simply a wonderful Chimayo purse!

Overall Condition:
It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition.
Condition Details:
There is bleeding from the red dyes that have colored some elements pink. The zipper has had a 2" section of the stitching to the inner pocket that has opened up to the back. The zipper and button are still fully functional. There are a few small 'rust' spots of staining to the weave. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
