Primitive religious carving oak panel 1631
This rare piece comes from France, the somewhat Primitive carving shows the Madonna and Child sitting on the Devil who is depicted as a lizard like monster, with the date 1631 at the top. The carving is on a piece of 3.5” thick wood and has a good natural patina, the wood itself has had woodworm in the past it is all dead and we have treated again to be on the safe side. The panel is 25” high and 18” wide
