About the Item
For sale is this wonderfully playful Mid-Century red "Hebi" table lamp, attributed to Isao Hosoe.
Hosoe originally designed the Hebi lamp in 1972, which was produced by Valenti Luce of Italy and revised over several decades of production. This lamp, though a vintage piece, probably dating from the 1980s, doesn't carry a manufacturer's logo, thus the attribution.
Included in major museum collections worldwide, the "Hebi", meaning snake in Japanese, is a fully adjustable lamp, with a flexible technopolymer body and a revolving metal reflector and is an iconic piece of mid-to-late 20th Century lighting design.
This lamp is in good working order, controlled by its original in-line switch on the cord, holds itself well and is in excellent vintage condition, with only minor age-related wear.
