Boch Frères Art Deco Cloisonné Vase Lamp, Ottoman-Inspired, Pierre Frey Shade

About the Item

Introducing Askania, a unique table lamp crafted from an antique ceramic cloisonné vase designed by Raymond Chevallier. Originating from the Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière, Belgium, this piece reflects the distinct "Persian" or Ottoman (Iznik) decor style emblematic of the late Art Deco era. The studio, Atelier de Fantaisie, under the guidance of Charles Catteau, Raymond Chevallier's successor, is celebrated for its dynamic ceramics influenced by Cubism, Japonisme, and the wonders of nature. The base of this lamp showcases the company’s decor number D 69, an iconic Iznik pattern featuring vibrant floral medallions, delicate foliate tendrils, and intricate floral palmette motifs. Its markings suggest its creation before 1920. Perfect for those with a flair for the maximalist aesthetic, it's paired with a custom contemporary lampshade with a platinum inner lining, in an exclusive Pierre Frey Paris fabric. This fabric, named Tabriz, pays homage to the saz style motifs of the 16th-century Ottoman Empire, distinguished by its sickle-shape. It’s innovatively reimagined as a brocade, integrating metallic imitation within its weft threads. Height: 50 cm (19.6 in) with lampshade Diameter: 32 cm (12.6 in) with lampshade E27 fitting; we can adapt the plug depending on the country you will use it in.
