19th Century Antique revolving bookcase
About the Item
Beautiful antique book mill, completely solid mahogany. The fencing on top is special. Beautiful warm color, top quality and cast iron base. It was made by the famous 19th century English furniture manufacturer Maple & Co.
Size: 49cm x 49cm x 87cm
Origin: England, ca. 1890
The maker Maple & Co was the leading manufacturer of quality furniture in the world by the end of the Victorian period (c. 1880). The company has furnished, among other things, Tsar Nicholas's winter palace, the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, all major English embassies around the world, countless country houses and large hotels. Everyone who was important towards the end of the 19th century had their furniture made by Maple & Co. The quality and craftsmanship was unprecedented and this is still clearly visible.
