American Art Deco Streamline Mahogany Dresser by Modernage, N.Y., 1930s
About the Item
A Streamline four drawer mahogany dresser by Modernage Furniture Company of New York from the 1930s.
The recessed plinth base continues as a raised panel along the right side of the cabinet ending midway up the side of the top drawer.
This distinctive asymmetric L-shape is similar to a line of cabinetry designed for Herman Miller by Gilbert Rohde but differs because of this shortened side panel and the placement of the drawer pulls on the face of the cabinet.
The use of mahogany is an unusual choice.
The cabinet is in very good condition and has been re-lacquered.
