Louis XVI Bureau, Copenhagen, circa 1780.

About the Item

Elegant Louis XVI bureau in mahogany Copenhagen, 1780. Behind the writing flap small drawers and a tambour door. Loose top cabinet with original tambour door in the form of imitated books with leather back. Presumably by J.C. Lillie ( 1760 - 1827 ) and a similar can be found at Liselund Castle on Møn Denmark. Joseph Christian Lillie attended the Academy of Arts until 1780 and in 1790 became court architect to the Danish court. The bureau is made in high-quality craftsmanship, with a light French polish, Copenhagen, 1780.
