Large Danish Mahogany Cabinet

About the Item

Originally retailed at Illums Bolighus, Copenhagen's most prestigious department store, this large Danish mahogany cabinet references 18th-century British design. Specifically, the gentle bowing shape in the front of the cabinet and the incised lines capture the fluidity and grace of Georgian furniture. However, akin to Kaare Klint's work like 'The Red Chair', the cabinet is a less ornate and more streamlined interpretation of traditional design. Resultantly this cabinet is fresh and modern, making it suitable for a variety of interior settings from Modernist apartments to historical homes. To the base, the cabinet features two shoe compartments that feature nickel-plated poles. At the top of the wardrobe are two clothes racks at different heights and a shelf that runs the full width, providing space for coats or dresses that require to be hung. Finally, four slim line drawers are fitted into the right-hand side of the cabinet and offer further storage.
