G M Ellwood for J S Henry. An Arts & Crafts oak writing desk

About the Item

George Montague Ellwood (1875-1955) for J.S. Henry An oak writing desk with sloping pen compartment just above the writing area flanked by stylised inlaid details of a pair of quills in ink pots the inlays of fruitwoods and copper, with fold out divided letter compartments to each upper side, a well-designed extended writing area with a pair of drawers below with open bookcases to each side. The handles to the pen, letter compartments and to the drawers are after a design by C.F.A. Voysey, who also designed for J.S. Henry.
