Spectra Side Table, Rona Koblenz

About the Item

Spectra side table - Rona Koblenz Dichroic glass Measures: 46 x 70 x 70 cm "A spectrum (plural spectra or spectrums) is a condition that is not limited to a specific set of values but can vary infinitely within a continuum". - Rona Meyuchas-Koblenz is inspired by reflection and refraction, absorbent and repellent. The studio’s continuous interest to create a timeless dialogue from past to future through presently active living, has been expressed in its current work, ‘Spectra’, using Dichroic finished glass as a dominant Material. The environment we live in is affected by a spectrum of different conditions. Kukka chose to use Dichroic glass to help express the significant conditions affected by light and time, reflection and refraction. Similar to the social behavior expressed through social media channels and the internet: absorbing and repelling, yet the glass, a modern Material used since the Roman Empire, has its own structural, solid properties. The quartz is an abundant mineral in earth. The slabs are solid, reflecting physical, stable and timeless design. "I am particularly interested to create timeless design by using simple geometry and basic materials. The dialogue between the two is expressed in Spectra" - Rona Meyuchas-Koblenz Rona Meyuchas-Koblenz Born in Tel-Aviv, Rona is an internationally acclaimed product designer, art director and researcher. She graduated in 1999 with a Master degree from the Scuola politecnica di design in Milan and started her career by working in different design consultancies in Milan and London. Rona's experience in design and manufacturing then motivated her to create products under her own label, and her first collection was released in Milan during Salone del Mobile 2007 at Spazio Romeo Gigli. The following year she was approached by the British embassy in Milan to exhibit selected products at The Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Milan, an exhibition curated by Sir Paul Smith and Moroso. The Minimalist democratic approach and an honest design are most recognized with Rona’s style and work. In 2010, she created the brand kukka, which works for architects, interior designers, private clients and retailers such as Conran, Paul Smith, La Rinascente, Selfridges, or De Padova. The studio, underpinned by creative stimulation, specializes in experimenting with materials, manufacturing methods and technology. Rona is also a visiting lecturer (V&A, LFA, Design Museum talks, ICFF, Shenkar College, Plymouth university) a writer (BVD Magazine) , tutor (Domain Boisbuchet, Shenkar College) and the founder of Designers in the Middle. • Z-II-I Contemporary Brass Mosaic Side Table, Flow Collection
    By Jonathan Amar
    Located in Paris, FR
Contemporary handcrafted guéridon side table composed of a solid brass structure and designed with an intricate black mosaic tile tabletop in a modern graphic zellige design. The Zel-II.I.360 Model I is part of the Flow collection, an ode to movement created by Jonathan Amar in his studios between Paris and Rabat. Flow Collection, Zel.2.1.360. 21st Century Base type 1 Solid french polished brass Moroccan Zellige, pattern 2, Blue On picture measures 36 cm in diameter The Flow collection is an ode to movement designed by Jonathan Amar composed of artisanal articulating lamps and side tables following three years of research and development between his office in Paris and his atelier in Rabat. FUNCTIONALITY - Built with sophisticated joints, extendible arms and lampshades with adjustable stems. - Equipped with the latest LED sensory dimming or wireless technologies. - Available in a variety of sizes to cover all types of living areas. CRAFTSMANSHIP Handcrafted in France and Morocco with French and Italian materials, Flow honours the relationship between meticulous workmanship and quality materials through the thickness, finishes and fixtures of each creation. Due to the handmade nature each piece is unique and might vary slightly in finish. MATERIALS Brass, the central element of each creation, is available in an array of finishes: nickel-plated, polished or aged. The finish you select and the way you care for your Flow throughout the years will result in one of a kind pieces. Since Brass is a metal which works well with a multitude of materials, Jonathan Amar has associated it with a unique selection of colours and textures. Fabric and wicker are used to design lampshades ; Zellige and marbles form table tops and bases ; lamp stems are sheathed in hand pleated leather by artisan saddlers. Hand-engravings, the iconic know-how of our atelier, are available on a selected number of models as an additional request About Jonathan Amar Born in Rabat in 1955 and raised in France from an early age, Jonathan Amar is one of the first designers to export artisanal Moroccan know-how abroad. His eclectic bringing up, from both shores of the Mediterranean, the teaching he acquired during his travels around the world, make him without a doubt one of the most unusual designers-creators of his generation. He is behind the New Age and Ethno-Chic Baroque movements or the art of blending the world's cultures, creating places where exceptional decoration is an essential element. Indeed, he has the talent of merging various elements - even disparate - and integrating them into a new aesthetic set. His style will give birth to a number of movements which will inspire many artists and decorators. This ability allows him to undertake all types of projects, appropriate various volumes and he quickly develops a flair for lighting arrangements, giving each of his projects a strong identity. In 1985, at the age of 30, Hubert Boukobza entrusts him with the artistic direction of ”Les Bains Douches". It is a true institution of Parisian...
