Late 19th Century French Louis XVI Style Rosewood Marquetry Gueridon Side Table

About the Item

This late nineteenth century French Louis XVI style round gueridon side table features a parquetry top of intricate geometric inlay of rosewood accented with an inset border of inlaid lemonwood. Bronze trim additionally surrounds the top. The delicate lemonwood pin line is repeated around the apron and along its tapered square legs which are finished with bronze sabots. The apron is fitted with a single drawer, and a lower shelf repeats the geometric marquetry pattern and provides stability as well as additional display space. It is of a versatile scale for use in an entry or floating in a living space. With its glowing French polish finish, fine details, and handsome lines, this piece is sure to make a statement in any interior. c. 1890.
