Jeff Cornish Body Armour Signed 1988 Photorealistic Acrylic Painting on Canvas

About the Item

A moody and thought-provoking acrylic painting on canvas titled "Body Armour" by Michigan-based artist Jeff Cornish. Signed on the bottom right with a 1988 date. The painting depicts a photorealistic night scene in some kind of subway / underground dwelling. The eye is drawn to the reflections and cinematic lighting on the chrome diner. Inside is a grouping of people with their backs turned, which appear to be waiting or watching something in unison. There is almost a futuristic or dreamlike quality to the composition that are reminiscent of artworks by Surrealist artist Rene Magritte. The diner subject matter is inspired by Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks" and other artworks from the American Realism movement. An artwork that sparks conversation and intrigue for a modern or contemporary space. Dimensions: 72.5" W x 3" D x 35.5" H (framed). In very good vintage condition.
