Wax Clock Sculptural Wall Candle Holder
About the Item
A candle holder rendered in stainless steel is mounted onto the wall as an altar panel painting that folds closed to simulate a medical cabinet. The candle supported by the metal structure is pierced by nails at different heights marking time intervals in a contemporary rendition of the ancient candle alarm clock. Deliberately syncretic, the object references themes of ancient ritual and religious practices while addressing modernist values of asepsis. As the candle shortens the melting wax releases the nails onto the cabinet’s metal plate which drop with loud “clings”. This moment marks a sudden fractionalization of an otherwise fluid condition of time. A suspension of a state of temporal leisure into that of pragmatic count; palpably evidencing differences between Henry Bergson’s concepts of “objective time”: the time of watches, timetables, calendars, with that of “duration” (la durée); lived time, time felt and acted measured by subjective experience.

Panorammma Atelier
Panorammma is a furniture design laboratory based in Mexico City that seeks to redefine our relationship with functional objects through experimentation with materials and forms. At Panorammma, functionality becomes a premise for visual narratives and a means to conceive altered states of living. Panorammma’s peotics oscillate between disciplines, while focusing on a crucial point of contemporary sensibility: the expanding pathology of the concrete, the alineation of everyday life and the space that abstraction occupies in the social sphere. Panorammma’s designs delve into these themes by exploring past visions of the future and creating the myth of memory. Panorammma pursues the creation of objects that generate fissures from which fantasy spills into our reality and informs an imaginative play; a scenography from parallel fiction. Pseudo prop. Panorammma creates actors through whose presence and performative ability can create of our domestic spaces unusual scenarios. Testimonies of a refusal to live ordinarily. Maika Palazuelos (Designer and Director) initiated Panorammma during the confinement with the intention of creating a permeable and open platform for design exploration. Identifying in expressive domestic objects a possibility for them to complete with and extend our everyday narrative by inserting themselves into it. In a sense, they become trojan horses for artistic discourse by disrupting and reframing the mundane.

- Alan S. Kushner Studio Craft Sculptural Wall MirrorLocated in Hanover, MACustom woodwork decorative wall mirror created by artist Alan S. Kushner of Philadelphia circa 1990. Signed "AK" carved on back of bottom triangle. Overall dimensions: 72 inches high by 46 inches wide by 5 inches deep. Framed mirror dimensions: 46 inches high by 24 inches wide by 5 inches deep. Please note that the artist's intention was for the mirror to be displayed with the zebra wood arrow on the bottom pointing downward and the 'fishtail' on top. We know this because on the backside of the mirror are two wedge cut blocks for mounting in a corresponding wall bracket or Z clip. For the purposes of our photography it was not possible to stand the mirror on the point so all our photos show it upside down. Alan Kushner (1949-2008) was a self-taught woodworker and furniture maker who exhibited his designs primarily in and around Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland during the 1980's and 1990's. In 1991 he participated in the summer exhibition "In Our Circle" at the James Michener...Category
