About the Item
J Ivcevich's abstract mixed media piece, Untitled (Silver Tree Mandala), is a hypnotic array of colors and refractions. The rich orange rust bounces against the deep sapphire of the abutting shreds, enhancing the kaleidoscopic quality of the surface. The piece is at once jarring and meditative, and laced with mysticism.
J Ivcevich is a self-taught multimedia artist from Indiana and holds a B.A. in Sociology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Over the past couple of years, Ivcevich's efforts have focused on excavating spiritual contemplation from the detritus of urban observation. Source material has been gleaned from layers of shredded street and subway promotional posters. These organic readymade abstractions get reconfigured, edited and orchestrated as multi-paneled paintings, ceramic reliefs and hand-carved wood idols.
