About the artist:
Mark Coomer (1914-2004) was a renowned artist known for his exceptional talent and unique style. Born in Bay City, Michigan in 1914, he eventually settled in Arizona after living in the suburbs of Chicago. Coomer quickly gained success in the southwest, with his original artwork being sold in galleries throughout the state. As his popularity grew, he began producing lithographs and serigraphs to meet the high demand for his work. His early pieces depicted cityscapes and skyscrapers of Chicago and New York City, while his later works focused on southwest frontier towns and scenes from South America and Mexico. Coomer's work encapsulates the essence of living in the Valley of the Sun from the 1960s to 1980s, making him an iconic Arizona artist of that era. In the upscale Scottsdale social scene, owning an original Mark Coomer piece symbolized prestige.
