About the Item
This huge Italian 19th century armorial painting features the coat of arms of Montini, a noble Italian family that
has among its ancestors the Archbishop of Milan, later known as Pope Paul VI.
The large oval canvas has a brown and red background, the latter shaped like a shield, in which six mountains
(from the etymology of the surname) and three white fleur de lis are painted.
This big scale palatial oil painting is housed in a newly made rectangular panel entirely covered with gold
leaves and framed by a simply moulded black lacquer frame.
This noble surname is prevalent in Tuscany, Rome and Lombardy but has also spread abroad, in French and
English speaking territories with different declinations.
The oval shape of the canvas and the gold background of the panel on which the red color stands out make it an
extremely lavish decorative fine art piece as well as a historical testimony
An antique armorial heraldic crest that offers today wonderful interior design possibilities being a completely
unique and very rare item.
Very good overall condition, bright and saturated colors, stable surface, minor wear consistent with age and
use.
