Richard Thomas Scott
Richard Thomas Scott is inspired by the works of Rembrandt, Andrew Newell Wyeth and Johannes Vermeer. Born in Conyers, Georgia, and now living in Hudson, New York, Scott is an American history painter best known for asking tough questions about world events or societal injustices through provocative and sometimes controversial imagery. Scott pursued a BFA in painting in the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia, followed by an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art. After graduation, he worked for two years as a painter for Jeff L. Koons, then three years as a studio assistant to Odd Nerdrum in Norway and Paris, France. Scott began work for the United States Mint in 2014 under the Artistic Infusion Program. His work has exhibited at the Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Palazzo Cini in Venice, the Museu Europeu d'Art Modern in Barcelona, the Museum of New Art in Detroit and is part of collections worldwide such as The New Britain Museum of American Art, the Georgia Museum of Art, the European Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Arts, former British Arts Minister Alan Thomas Howarth of Newport, Prince Morad El Hattab and Robert C. - Little Girl and Dog ShovelBy John MorfisLocated in Sag Harbor, NYA trompe l'oeil oil painting of a child's beach shovel. Morfis' incredible realism contrasts the quaint illustration on the shovel. Framed dimensions: 23.5 x 17.5 inches John Morfis was born in Bayville, Long Island in 1976. His humble beginnings made pursuing a career in art difficult and paradoxically necessary. Fixated on making things aesthetically pleasing, John made an extreme departure from his family life when he chose to base his life on art. Surrounded by mechanics, welders, and otherwise trade workers John had a tough time expressing his interest in a world much more utilitarian and much less expressive and impractical. With an extraordinary desire to be an artist and a grant awarded, John was able to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting from the University of Hartford in 1998. While there John studied oil painting under American realist Stephen Brown...Category
