Giardino dell'artista in Russia negli anni 90 Fiori ma raffigurati non in un vaso ma in natura Quest'opera emana tutta la luce di una mattinata primaverile , vista da una finestra che è la cornice. Si sente quasi il profumo di questo giardino Boris LAVRENKO (Rostov, 1920 – San Pietroburgo, 2001) Dopo gli studi artistici nella città natale, nel 1940 Lavrenko viene inviato al fronte, dal quale riporterà interessanti disegni e schizzi dal valore anche documentaristico. Terminata la guerra frequenta l’Istituto Repin di San Pietroburgo, città in cui studia, vive e lavora per tutta la vita, diplomandosi nel 1952 sotto la guida di Rudolf Frentz. Allievo inoltre di Alexander Osmerkine e Genrik Pavlovski, anche Lavrenko diventerà presto, già nel 1954, titolare della cattedra di pittura e composizione dell’Istituto Repin. Membro dell’Unione degli Artisti russi dal 1953, la sua lunga carriera è costellata di numerosi prestigiosi riconoscimenti, tra cui quello di Artista Emerito dell’Unione Sovietica (1976) e Artista del Popolo della Federazione Russa (1994). Dal 1948 iniziano le numerose esposizioni in patria e all’estero. La natura che lo circonda nell’infanzia, le immense steppe, il fiume Don, avranno una forte influenza sulla formazione del futuro pittore, uno dei più autorevoli rappresentanti della Scuola di pittura di Leningrado. Lavrenko, infatti, nel paesaggio, anche quello urbano, trova la piena libertà di ricerca compositiva e margini di sperimentazione cromatica all’interno di un figurativismo di solida impostazione. Le sue opere, in particolare quelle animate da figure impegnate in attività quotidiane, trasmettono spontaneità e gioia di vivere. I numerosi viaggi compiuti all’estero e in patria sono per Lavrenko fonte di una tale varietà di impressioni da alimentare il suo già vivo interesse per i soggetti di genere, sempre freschi e leggeri.
