Edmond was the son of Clemont Quinton (1851-1921). He was a painter, draughtsman and engraver. He trained with his father, Clément Quinton, already a renowned painter and they lived in Saint-Maur. Straddling the line between naturalism and impressionism, Edmond Quinton is often defined as a painter of countryside paintings. His bucolic landscapes have the revealing simplicity of a great mastery. In a few confident strokes, he immortalizes the French countryside and places himself among the major painters of the Marne Valley.
